Prayers of the Faithful

Prayers of the Faithful

O my Redeemer,
will that dreadful time ever come,
when but few Christians shall be left
who are inspired by the spirit of faith...

Prayer to be faithful of serving God

Father in Heaven,

ever-living source of all that is good,

keep me faithful in serving You.

Help me to drink of Christ's Truth,

and fill my heart with His Love

so that I may serve You in faith

and love and reach eternal life.

In the Sacrament of the Eucharist

You give me the joy of sharing Your Life.

Keep me in Your presence.

Let me never be separated from You

and help me to do Your Will.

A prayer for the faithful departed

O God, the Creator and Redeemer of all the faithful, grant to the souls of Thy servants departed the remission of their sins, that, through pious supplications, they may obtain the pardon which they have always desired. Who livest and reignest with God the Father, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, world without end. Amen.

A prayer for the preservation of faith - St. Clement Hofbauer

O my Redeemer,

will that dreadful time ever come,

when but few Christians shall be left

who are inspired by the spirit of faith,

that time when Thine anger shall be provoked

and Thy protection shall be taken away from us?

Have our vices and our evil lives

irrevocably moved Thy justice to take vengeance,

perhaps this very day,

upon Thy children?

O Thou, the beginning and end of our faith,

we conjure Thee,

in the bitterness of our contrite and humbled hearts,

not to suffer the fair light of faith

to be extinguished in us.

Remember Thy mercies of old,

turn Thine eyes in mercy upon the vineyard

planted by Thine own right hand,

and watered by the sweat of the Apostles,

by the precious blood of countless Martyrs

and by the tears of so many sincere penitents,

and made fruitful by the prayers

of so many Confessors and innocent Virgins.

O divine Mediator,

look upon those zealous souls

who raise their hearts to Thee

and pray ceaselessly

for the maintenance of that most precious gift of Thine,

the true faith.

We beseech Thee,

O God of justice,

to hold back the decree of our rejection,

and to turn away Thine eyes from our vices

and regard instead the adorable Blood

shed upon the Cross,

which purchased our salvation

and daily intercedes for us upon our altars.

Ah, keep us safe in the true Catholic and Roman faith.

Let sickness afflict us,

vexations waste us,

misfortunes overwhelm us!

But preserve in us Thy holy faith;

for if we are rich with this precious gift,

we shall gladly endure every sorrow,

and nothing shall ever be able to change our happiness.

On the other hand,

without this great treasure of faith,

our unhappiness would be unspeakable and without limit!

O good Jesus, author of our faith,

preserve it untainted within us;

keep us safe in the bark of Peter,

faithful and obedient to his successor

and Thy Vicar here on earth,

that so the unity of Holy Church may be maintained,

holiness fostered,

the Holy See protected in freedom,

and the Church universal extended

to the benefit of souls.

O Jesus, author of our faith,

humble and convert the enemies of Thy Church;

grant true peace

and concord to all Christian kings and princes

and to all believers;

strengthen and preserve us in Thy holy service,

so that we may live in Thee and die in Thee.

O Jesus, author of our faith,

let me live for Thee and die for Thee.

Amen.

Act of faith

O my God, I firmly believe that you are one God in three divine Persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; I believe that your divine Son became man and died for our sins, and that he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the Holy Catholic Church teaches, because you revealed them, who can neither deceive nor be deceived.

Apostle's Creed (A Prayer of Faith)

I believe in God the Father Almighty,

Creator of Heaven and earth;

I believe in Jesus Christ,

His only Son, our Lord,

He was conceived by the Holy Spirit

and born of the Virgin Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried.

He descended to the dead.

On the third day He rose again.

He ascended into Heaven

and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the Holy Catholic Church,

the communion of Saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting.

Amen.

NICENE CREED Profession of Faith

We believe in God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and all that is seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered, died, and was buried. On the third day he rose again in fulfilment of the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.

Amen.

Prayer for faith

Lord, I believe: I wish to believe in Thee. Lord, let my faith be full and unreserved, and let it penetrate my thought, my way of judging Divine things and human things. Lord, let my faith be joyful and give peace and gladness to my spirit, and dispose it for prayer with God and conversation with men, so that the inner bliss of its fortunate possession may shine forth in sacred and secular conversation. Lord, let my faith be humble and not presume to be based on the experience of my thought and of my feeling; but let it surrender to the testimony of the Holy Spirit, and not have any better guarantee than in docility to Tradition and to the authority of the magisterium of the Holy Church. Amen.

Prayer for Faithfulness

O Lord Omnipotent,

Who permittest evil that Thou mayest draw good therefrom,

give ear to our humble petitions,

whereby we beg of Thee the grace of being faithful unto death,

evermore conforming ourselves to Thy most holy will.

Amen.

Prayer for God's Help in Daily Actions

Our Father, may everything I do begin with Your Inspiration,

continue with Your Help,

and reach perfection under Your Guidance.

With Your loving care guide me in my daily actions.

Help me to persevere with love and sincerity.

Teach me to judge wisely the things of earth

and to love the things of Heaven.

Keep me in Your presence

and never let me be separated from You.

Your Spirit made me Your child,

confident to call You Father.

Make Your Love the foundation of my life.

Teach me to long for Heaven.

May its promise and hope guide my way on earth

until I reach eternal life with You.

Prayer for the virtue of faith

Jesus, Your faith was in the Heavenly Father, Your steadfastness being my living model! Kindly grant me the richness of such faith, To embrace Your Father as my true Provider, Having staunch belief in His eminent powers And to remain loyal to Him until my last day. If my faith shifts as temporary waves, Rush to my rescue without any hesitation, Protecting others from my fleeting frailty. May Your Presence always be lively enjoyed, Enabling me to shine as a flame of faith. My faith loyally reaches out to You! Amen.
